Culture is all part of Canada's ancient history. Culture forms everything there can be such as language, religion and so much more. Here I will be going over humor, visual arts, literature, theatre, media, television, film, music, video games, sports, and cuisine.
Humor
The beginning of Canadian radio comedy was in the late 1930's with the start of The Happy Gang. Canadian television comedy began with Wayne and Shuster, a sketch show during WW II. There is a "Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal Quebec at Saint-Denis Theatre.
Visual Arts
Before the Europeans came to Canada, the Aboriginal people used to paint Canada's territory thousands of years ago. There are still painting from the Aboriginals in museums. In painting after the Europeans came to Canada show the adoption of trade taking place. Walrus ivory, muskox horn, and caribou antler has enriched the Canadian sculptures. These cravings show daily life, activities, myths, and legends of the Inuit. Ever since the 1950's, Inuit art has been given as the traditional gift given to foreign people in high ranks by the Canadian government. Literature
Canadian literature is divided into English and French. Both reflected apon the Canadian perspective of nature, and life on the frontier. Canadian writers tried to make a voice for Canada instead of writing with an American, or British voice. Even the literature is divided between the provinces and territories. Canadian works have been awarded numerous international awards. Award winners and famous Canadian poets range from Michael Ondaatje to Alice Munro.
Theatre
Theater in Canada has been thriving ever since the 1800's. Theaters have festivals to attract tourists in for summer for some funding. Toronto Theater Districts is Canada's largest theater, and it is the third largest English-speaking theater in the world. French performances are usually played in Montreal's theater district. Some of Canada's large theaters that plays in French includes the Theatre Saint-Denis, Theatre du Nouveau Monde, and Excentris. There are three major theaters in Ottawa, and Ottawa has been the home of the National Arts Centre ever since 1969
Media
Canada's media sector has been developed nicely but its cultural importance has been overshadowed by American imports. Magazines and other media items are for profit and other economic reasons. To remain getting profit, there are many requirements for television and other things public. Canada wants so separate provision so Canada can have its own voice in the media.
Television
Canadian television is supported by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation greatly. The Canadian shows are influenced by American shows. When it comes to television, the French surpass their British half. Canada's television industry has been fully expanded as a site for Hollywood productions. Canada is usually always being influenced by many things. When it comes to shows, it is influenced by America. When it comes to channels like BBC Canada, it primarily shows UK shows.
Film
Canadian actors has been making gigantic contributions in American movies, although a lot of people don't know they are Canadian. Canada has made a film industry well-known for their actors, and films. The TIFF, or the Toronto International Film Festival is considered the best film festival for Western Cinema.
Music
Music has reflected the multi-cultural influences that shaped Canada. The aboriginals, the British, and the French has all made a contribution to the musical culture in Canada. Yet again, even the music has been influenced by America due to the migration between the 2 countries. Music has been regulated by the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission.
Video Games
Canada is the third largest video game industry because of their workers, with Japan and the US in the lead. The video game industry has accumulated a $2 million benefit for Canada. Because of government policies, game development studios prefer to be located in Canada.
Sports
Canada has many sports such as Lacrosse, Canadian football, basketball, soccer, curling, baseball, and ringette, but none are as popular as the winter sport, hockey. Canada's climate has contributed to Canada's success in winter sports. There are a lot of sports halls in Canada for famous sports people.
Cuisine
There are very unique foods in Canada. The cuisine comes from the French, British, and the American. The food is usually nothing like a stew like most places, but food that you can sometimes only get in Canada. The most produced food in Canada is Maple syrup.
