Education
If you are moving to Canada with children, then you should know some things about Canada's educational system.
First off, it is mandatory to go to school to 16 years of age in most provinces (18 if you live in New Brunswick and Ontario. Even though it is mandatory to go to school until the age of 16, if you get left behind, you still have to pass 12th grade. This means that at 16 you finish 12 grade, but if you are younger or older than 16 and you finish 12th grade then you have met the requirements.) so that means no dropping out before then!!! (Sorry if that confused you. My bad.)
Schools in Canada start in September, and ends in June.

How Schools Are Run
The schools are funded at the federal, provincial/territorial, and on the local level, with a chief policy that applies on the provincial level. You can get schools that teach students in English or French. School boards are derived from districts of the separated provinces. It is the school boards responsibility to make the rules, and the curreculum set forth by the province. The school board are also responsible to make a local policy.
Canada doesn't have a federal department of education, so each province and territory runs their own schools.

Elementary
Elementary generally runs from first grade to sixth grade, but in some areas, elementary runs up to eighth grade. Kids usually start elementary school when they are five.
Middle School
As normal, middle school is the transition from elementary to high school. It encompasses seventh grade and eight grade.
High School
High School runs from 9th grade to 12th grade. In Quebec, high school ends on 11th grade, and the next step would be CEGEP. CEGEP is a program that prepares students for University, or a technical field. Students take a second year to be a senior, or the "victory lap" to further prepare themselves for a University.

If students enter a Vocational school, they will earn certificates and diplomas that will certify them for various trades.
If students enter a University school, they will start off by earning a Bachelor's degree, and then its up to the student to either stop there, or continue their studies and earn a Master's or a Doctorate degree.
